What is Kherpi?

kherpi ·

Kherpi is an online personal information manager for collecting, organizing and sharing documents. Write in markdown, organize with folders, and define your own document types with custom properties — Kherpi adapts to whatever you want to collect.

Custom document types

Kherpi comes with a built-in Note type to get you started, but the real power is in creating your own. A librarian might define a Book type, a gamer creates Games, a sailor keeps Logbook entries. Your collections, your rules!

For each document type you can add as many custom properties as you need, choosing from text, number, date, date & time, list and checkbox fields. A Book might have an Author, Publishing date and ISBN; a Game could have Studio, Platforms and Rating. This way you build a virtual library tailored to exactly what you collect.

Organize your way

Documents live in a hierarchical folder structure with unlimited nesting — think of it as your personal file system. Pin important documents to the top, add labels for quick filtering, and use search to find anything by title or content.

Private by default, public if you choose

Every document starts private. When you're ready, publish it and make it public — it gets its own shareable URL under your profile at /u/yourname/. You stay in full control of what the world sees and what remains yours alone.

Import your existing notes

Already have a collection of markdown files? Import them individually or as a ZIP archive, complete with YAML front matter support for metadata like title, type, folder and labels.

Custom theming

Don't like the font, color, layout? No problem, turn on the custom stylesheet and make it your own!

Kherpi?!

Kherpi is the ancient Egyptian god of the rising or morning sun. The name is derived from the Egyptian verb ḫpr, meaning to "develop" or "create" — a fitting name for a tool built around creating your own collections. Kherpi was symbolized by a scarab beetle.
